BONE MARROW MODELING
Modeling the patient's own bone marrow
The same engineered matrix used to regenerate bone can also build a bone marrow niche outside the body, using a patient's own cells rather than an animal-derived one.
01
How it works
Patient tumor and stromal cells are isolated, mixed with OssiGel, and injected to form a humanized ossicle, hOss, a miniature, patient-specific bone marrow environment that recreates the composition of the original niche. Four to six ossicles are generated per patient sample, each usable for tumor modeling and drug screening.

02
Model performance
In acute myeloid leukemia samples, autologous hOss reached a 93% ossicle formation success rate across 269 patient-derived ossicles generated to date, and that success rate held regardless of the patient's ELN risk classification. Once formed, AML cells that circulate through the mouse system preferentially localize in the hOss, giving researchers a standardized platform for disease modeling with composition similarities to the patient's original bone marrow, with reproducibility above 95% and 75% fewer animals required than conventional models.

03
Choosing the right level of personalization
Not every study needs the same depth of modeling. The platform scales from basic hOss for standard bone and marrow formation, to advanced hOss with superior tumor engraftment and a humanized niche, to fully autologous hOss built from a patient's own cells for personalized disease modeling.

04
How it's offered
Beyond the material itself, this application is offered as a service: OssiGel plus end-to-end in vivo study design and execution, from model setup to data analysis.
This application is built for labs, universities, pharma companies and research centers running disease models in oncology and beyond.
